My dream holiday.

When i was about 6 years old my aunt and the whole family  migrated to Australia.
When i am still a little kid, i always send letters(due Internet was not so advance last time) to my aunt who dotes me lot. In her letter she will tell me how Australia look like and photos of the scenery and what she eat there, how cold is the weather during winter and how "angmo" so called Caucasians celebrate Christmas there. So i always wanted to visit Australia when im a grown up adult.

So far what i know about Australia is very limited. All i know is the koala bear, kangaroo, deers, apple trees, a white coloured building( i think is call some opera theater) located at Sydney and their nice tulips.....Oh ya, my aunt told me that their chirstmas is very hot, cause is summer time!

Alright, stop my crap. hehe. i visited the australia's official tourism website to find out more on australia.

I found that the layout and the design of the website is very attractive. it is so colourful and is very easy to access. I can just click on the tab and they will link us to the pages i wanted.
The website is also very convenient. There is a tab down there which is enable us to plan our holiday from booking air tickets,  accommodation to travel around australia.

other than that, the website also state the events going on in australia, i think this is to attract more tourist to visit their country. the wallpaper is so nice, i wonder if i would able to see this when i visit australia one day.

i found this site(things to do) is very interesting. It helps us to discover the experiences that make the holiday unique in australia. All this includes canoeing and kayaking, cultural attraction and there is a part for youth travellers.

If you fell like visiting the cities of australia but don't know which one to go, don't worry! this website also provides a list of cities that tell you what is special in the city and you may want to take a look of it.
if you afraid of getting lost, they also provide maps in the website. you can just click on it and print it for further reference!

This is a tourism australia newest tv advertisement.
i love this song so much! is so happy! i think i heard it some where before in singapore, just cant figure out where is the exact place!

Australia in second life is so much different from the real world. nothing look the same except the australia flag. I find it boring in second life.

Practical 7

For this week, our class learnt about what is Citizen Journalism.
Let me briefly talk about what is Citizen Journalism.
Citizen journalism is when private individuals do essentially what professional reporters do – report information. That information can take many forms. It can include text, pictures, audio and video. But it’s basically all about communicating information of some kind. From my point of view, i think that citizen journalism is a good way for normal people like us to evaluate their point of view, their opinion on certain matter.

During the lesson, we were given a task to form our own group to discuss and evaluate STOMP based on purpose, coverage, authority, accuracy and currency. Our group members contains 5 members. All of us are from different country(singapore, malaysia, china and indonesia). While we were discussing on stomp, all of us keep making fun of boonseong(who is a Singaporean) due to the "Singapore seen" news.  This is because stomp always show embarrass moment of the locals. (we are very bad i know:) )

For the evaluate part, i would like to work on accuracy and currency.
I find that for STOMP, information may not be that accurate bacause information in the STOMP
website is not posted by professionals.STOMP is open to everyone as long as they are registered members. Due to not everyone are proffesionals, the source of the information may not be confirmed and even there are images or video to support their post, alterations might be done to those so called evidence.Other than that, the informations provided by them may be bias thus it maybe misleading.
As for currency, i think that stomp is always up to date as there is always new post everyday and sometimes there is also follow up of certain matters.

If i were to create my own stomp base on my research topic, i would like to have a reference catagory where the stompers would put the link or title of the books or journal to support their information. next, i will recomments the stomper to do a research first before posting, this is because i dont want my stomp to become a site which will mislead my readers.

MY BAD

Im so busy these day and i was paying a lot of attention on my projects. Until teacher reminded us that we need to update our blog,i realize that i have missed out a lot of post and one of them is still in my draft! I think im gonna do badly for this CDS. gosh! So worried! SAVE ME! Anyway, instead of asking someone to save me, i should save myself by doing my late work. HAIZ!

i shall start with the TP search databases:

EbscoHost Research Database
The search uses boolean equation which is and, not, or  to do an advance search.
It also allow us to pick on the field so that the results will be more accurate.

The search results showed is arrange in order however the search result is not the exact information I wanted and is helpless to my research.

ScienceDirect Subject Collections
It contains journal articles on subject like Agricultural and biological sciences, biochemistry, etc... (all science based). I chosen this because my topic is science related topic.
The search results showed had a wide range which is 100 and the result shown is quite relevant to my research and i find the results shown is in order, is in PDF format, with citation and is able to give us a preview. This helps to save our time in reading the unwanted information.
I find it useful.

I think it is more effective to search the invisible web (databases) than using search engines, meta-search or subject directories if i am working on projects related to my course or school work as database provides factual and abstract of the text information. As compare to other search engines databases provides me much reliable information and is usually up-to-date information.
They are welly maintained by government or organizations. Other than that, when we are using someone's word as information, citation is very important, as the citation is given in the databases, i can just copy and paste it. this will save my time to find for the author names or others.
